Longines have issued (updated?) the popular Legend Diver. The new model will feature a date display at the 3 o'clock position. The reference number for this new watch is L3.674.4.50.0. It is unsure if this model will complement the current Legend Diver or replace it.

ReplyDeleteA local dealer told me that the version without date is no longer available. It seems that enough people asked Longines for a date version. I must say, I find the dial much more elegant without date. Also, for a diver watch it is not very functional to have a date. I don't understand why Longines doesn't offer both models. In our times watches without date have become a rarity.
I own the version without date. Despite all the musings I'm willing to sell it in order to finance my next purchase...

ReplyDeleteWelcome to the blog. I have also checked with my local dealer. It seems that the watch is very 'hot' at the moment. It is very difficult to get one. He cannot confirm if the non date model has been discontinued. The date model is slowly appearing in shops.
There are arguments both ways on the virtues of the date display. Most of my 'good' watches comes with date, but I use the non date models more.

ReplyDeleteI have just purchased a new Longines Legend Diver with Date and it is probably the most amazing watch i have ever seen. I Purchased this watch because I wanted to remind myself how precious time is, and what we do with the time we have determines who we are. I wear it daily and I find that the date function is a bonus, the size of the date display is very elegant and does not distract or take ones attention from seeing the beauty of the watch. Overall a beautiful watch that is simply amazing.
