Since I found out that Kienzle watches are available in Taiwan, I thought I find out a bit more about the brand and the watches they offer. The brand started out in Germany in 1822 by Johannes Schlenker. In 1883 Jakob Kienzle marries into the family and contributes to the expansion of the company. The company was renamed Schlenker & Kienzle.
Fast forward to 1997 and the company was bought over by the Highway Holdings Group, Hong Kong. Kienzle AG in Hamburg was formed in 2002. In 2006, Kienzle was taken over by the owners and management. They also bought the worldwide brand and distribution rights. Kienzle was positioned itself as a German brand acting on an international stage.
2007 sees the launch of collection Kienzle 1822. This is followed by the launch of Edition Jakob Kienzle. These are watches featuring a number of complications, manufactured in Germany. In this year, Kienzle is reorganised and Stephen W. Kruse-Thamer is appointed CEO. 2008 sees Kienzle launch collection 1822, made in Germany watches.
