I was out for lunch when I came across a small shop selling watches from Denmark. I notice this brand of watches and I realised they were the same brand I have seen in a number Japanese watch magazines. The brand is noon, or is it noon copenhagen? Anyway, I find the watch very interesting as they use discs instead of the normal hands to tell time. The concept is based on the kaleidoscope. The picture below shows the construction of the watch and the discs itself.
Time as shown by the discs. The dial colour changes with the time.
Anyway, a bit about noon. The two founders of noon copenhagen is Michael Slipsager and Jan Lovmand. Together they formed noon in 2006. They wanted to develop a watch that is affordable, offers good if not great value for money and tell time in an innovative way. They decided on using the turning discs and worked with Henrik Sorig, a well known Danish industrial designer to launch the collection you see below.
The case back. You can see the quality in the construction of the watches.

Where can I find Noon watches in Dublin Ireland
ReplyDeleteHi Joe,
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the blog. I have checked Noon watches website. Looks like the only place would be their webshop. Either that or Germany, Spain, Greece or Italy. Good excuse for a holiday.
Best regards,
Ivan
