Hing's Watch Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

I was fortunate that the owners of Hing's watch agreed to an interview for my blog. The watch shop is located in the up-market BSC (Bangsar Shopping Center) in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. A bit of history. Hing's watch started in 1969 in PJ (Petaling Jaya). It's full name is Yee Wah Hing Watch. Since then, it is more fondly known as Hing's Watch. They are a family run business. Currently they have 2 shops, this one and another located in Jaya 33, a new mall located in Section 14, Petaling Jaya. Section 14 is a vibrant business cum residential area in the heart of PJ.

This shop in BSC has been in the mall since it opened some 20 years ago. Since its opening, the shop has slowly changed is look and its transformation has and is with the times (pun intended). The shop has grown in size and in its current transformation, it is a vibrant place to be in. The watches are well laid out as are the displays.

The only thing that has not changed with the times is the friendly nature of the staff. The staff are very knowledgeable and very very friendly. They will discuss and advise (if necessary) their clients on their watch selection and what are the current trends.

This shop is operated by Mr. Andy Yee, I believe the second generation Yee. He is assisted by Mr. Liong and other members of their family. This makes the place very cordial and friendly. Both Andy and Liong are very knowledgeable as they not only update themselves on what is happening in the watch world, but they also visit and attend watch exhibitions like the annual Basel Watch Exhibition.

Since the shop is located in an up-market residential area in Kuala Lumpur, the selection of watches they carry reflect this. Of course that does not mean that they only cater to the high-end market, their selection of brands will satisfy all. However, the selection available differs from the two shops, with the Jaya 33 shops offering Japanese brands like Seiko and Casio.

The brands they carry includes Omega, Montblanc, Bell & Ross, Maurice Lacroix, Tag Heuer, Ball, Tissot, Oris, Vulcain, Longines, Breitling, Mido, Swiss Army, Baume & Mercier, Suunto, Nautica, Chronotech among others. From the brands above, it can be seen that they do offer a very wide range of watches. They are also able to source limited edition watches from selected brands. There were a number of Limited Edition Bell & Ross and they even have all the 3 variations of the popular Omega Ploprof 1200M.

Other services offered by Hing's watch includes the normal watch services of battery change and strap resizing. They also carry a good selection of watch accessories like straps, watch winders, travel pouches and storage boxes. They have a good selection of leather products from Montblanc, pens included. They also have a watch technician and can assist their customers to send in their watches to the respective brands service centers.

I like this shop as it is very comfortable, clean and the staff are very friendly. Unlike many shops that I have been to, the staff here do not follow you around but will be there when you need help. They are knowledgeable and can offer very good and practical advise. Best of all, their prices are very competitive.
