Ever since I had the close encounter with Sinn, I have been trying to find out more about Sinn and their products. I had a passing fancy with Sinn a long time ago, but it never came to be. This would be a second visit to the brand. I have just downloaded their catalogue and found it very interesting. It was a bit technical but that is fine by me as I am an engineer (ex) by training.
The diving collection was of interest. I find the U series watches very interesting. The amount of work that goes into it, makes the watches very very interesting. I think it makes a cool tool watch. Very technical and it tickles my technical side.
I find the following Sinn technology very fascinating;
1. Hydro - the watch is oil filled to prevent fogging
2. Use of special oil - reduce friction under extreme conditions, e.g. -45 degree to + 80 degree (Centigrade)
3. Dehumidifying technology - the use of drying capsule, Viton seals and filling the watch with Argon
4. Diapal - the use of diamond pallet as oppose to the normal ruby pallet
5. Tegiment and black hard coating - better surface protection and increase hardness to 1,200 Vickers
6. Special case material - the use of German Submarine steel which has increased sea-water corrosion resistance and anti-magnetic properties
I have narrowed down the selection to either the Sinn U1 or U2. The Sinn U series incorporate the Sinn technology 2, 3, 5 and 6 (from above list). Looks like a visit to the watch shop with the Sinn Tempus U1 might just be in order..... or maybe this watch, the Sinn U2S

You have to admit that it does look good.
