I know that this may be a bit late but the Smiths military watches from Timefactors are now available for sale. Both the 39 mm and 36 mm are now available. The 36 mm is as per the original issued between 1967 and 1970 while the 39 mm is a larger interpretation of the original. Both watches are the modern interpretation of the original but at the same time true to the original.
The watches are built from scratch and incorporate improvements over the original. The 36 mm is truer to the original with acrylic crystal and fixed bars while the 39 mm will have a hi-dome sapphire crystal and shoulderless spring-bars (with drilled lugs). The best part of the watch is that the 39 mm is proportioned upwards from the 36 mm. Both the watch do not use the same crown, with the 36 mm using 6 mm diameter crown and the 39 mm using a 7 mm diameter crown (same can be said for the lug to lug length). How is that for detail. It would be cheaper for TimeFactors to use the same crown, but it would be proportionally wrong. Both watches have been allocated a NATO Stock Number (NSN).
