One of the watches I like is the homage to the Benrus watch issued to the American military during the Vietnam war. It is the Type 1 watch. I have one that is made by Dennis Rudy of DR Custom watch. I understand his homage is pretty close to the original, with movement access from the dial side. So I decided to see if I can get to the movement.
The DR homage watch, ready to be disassemble.
With the bezel removed. You can see traces of lubrication on the surface of the watch case.
The bezel, removed.
The bezel is held in place by a spring clip.
A closer view.
An even closer view. The flat part of the clip sits in a groove on the watch case and locks the bezel in place.
This is as far as I got. Don't have the right tools to turn the locking clip to unlock the crystal.
The notch to put in the tool, to unlock the clip that holds the crystal in place.
The clip sits under tabs on the case.
You can see the tabs on the case at the 5 and 7 o'clock position.
Oh well, maybe next time.
