Magrette Vantage Bronze
Magrette Watches is proud to announce the release of the Vantage Bronze watch. The watch will be available from May 2015 and is currently in the pre-order stage.
Some features of the Vantage Bronze include thick double domed sapphire crystal, Super Luminova hands and dial, cut out markers on dial. With a few more other subtle features like the DLC case back with anti finger-print coating.
The dials are made of two discs on top of each other with cut-outs for the indices, often referred to as a "sandwich-dial". Super Luminova (C3 greenish for black dial version and Vintage radium color for brown dial version) will ensure visibility in dark conditions.
The engine of this timepiece is a self-winding movement with hacking feature (MIYOTA 9015). It is reliable and accurate and is a very durable movement. This movement is positioned between the well known ETA 2824 and more luxurious 2892 movements.
The basic specs:
Model: Vantage Bronze.
Case: CuSn8 bronze alloy with brush finish, 44mm x 53.5MM excluding the crown, DLC with anti finger-print coating display back, screw down crown (polished stainless steel).
Crystal: Sapphire (double domed), AR coating.
Water Resistance: 500m resistance with automatic HRV.
Strap: Leather with CuSn8 bronze buckle
Movement: Miyota 9015
Photographs: Magrette Watches
The watch will be a Limited Edition run of only 500 pieces includes black dial and brown.

Watch photography...
A couple of weeks ago, I got from my wife a camera that I always wanted... well not really. It is a modern take of a camera I always wanted, the Olympus OMD EM10. The camera came with the new 14-42mm EZ pancake lens. I also got the Olympus MCon-P02 Macro Converter.
Anyway, here are the results... Some attempts at some 'beautiful' photography.
My Ice-Watch..
Some close-up..
Playing with depth of field..
More close-up...
More depth of field...
Overall, I am rather happy. Might replace my Fuji X-E1 or 2 as my main camera....
Jam Diamond Watch Type M
Jam Home Made has released another watch collection in the Jam Diamond Watch Type M. This watch takes it design cues from military watches of past (basically from one particular watch, guess which one). Don't really know much about the watch but I like it.
There are two models to chose from, silver and black. The case is stainless steel and comes in at 40mm. The dial is 30mm across and the lugs are 20mm. I suspect the movement is quartz. The watch is only available in Japan and retails for 27,000 Yen before tax.

The watch comes packaged in a Jam Jar...
Oh, why Diamond in the name? Evidently there is a diamond in the crown, black diamond no less...

Magrette Regattare Carbon
Magrette is excited to announce the very limited release of
the Regattare Carbon.
Our limited release consists of ten pieces.
Watch enthusiasts will know about forged carbon as used by
high end Swiss watch brands and other luxury manufacturers in both the car and
yacht industries. In forged composites, short pieces of carbon fiber
thread are mixed with resin, placed into a heated mold and then cured under
high pressure. It makes great material for watch cases as it is light and
extremely strong.
The Regattare Carbon is finished off with a screw-in case
back made from titanium. The crown is also titanium, but with a black DLC
(Diamond Like Carbon) coating. You will note that the crown is positioned
at 9 o'clock. The dial itself is a sandwich construction, meaning there are two
parts placed on top of each which creates a 3D effect. C3 Super Luminova will
be used to ensure good visibility in low light conditions. Inside the case,
there is the Swiss made ETA 2824 automatic movement which takes care of the
actual functions of the watch.
The timepiece comes with two straps; both are the Magrette
branded straps (rubber and black leather). The Regattare Carbon will be
packaged in the luxurious Magrette travel case.
MODEL: REGATTARE CARBON
MOVEMENT: AUTOMATIC SWISS MADE ETA 2824
CASE DIAMETER: 44MM
CASE: FORGED CARBON WITH TITANIUM CASE BACK.
CROWN: SCREW DOWN CROWN (TITANIUM , DLC COATED).
CRYSTAL: SAPPHIRE (DOUBLE DOMED), AR COATING.
WATER-RESISTANCE: 200M
STRAP: RUBBER AND LEATHER
LIMITED EDITION: 10 PIECES

Yet another Mook....
I got this together with the latest issue of Watch Navi. Watch Navi is a Japanese watch magazine. Yes, another Mook on Panerai. This time it is the Panerai Perfect Book, a 40 pages Mook/ booklet. Lots of interesting stuff. Yes, I do not read or understand Japanese, but lots of photographs to enjoy.
The Mook/ booklet.
Mr. Angelo Bonati, CEO of Panerai. In the background, the Panerai PAM00372. Maybe one day...
The contents? Some Panerai history... interview with Mr. Bonati... and the usual stuff..
The Panerai PAM00512. I like this watch.
An introduction into Panerai SIHH 2014 novelties...
Overall, a pretty nice Mook/ booklet.

Rolex in the wild....
After spending 5 days in Okinawa, I notice that the most popular brand on the wrist of the Japanese people is Rolex. And not just the normal Rolex, but also some of the new release Rolex. These are some of the Rolex I manage to 'shoot'...
The Bruiser or Batman, Rolex GMT Master II Ceramic.
Also spotted the new Yacht Master blue dial, but did not manage to 'shoot' that creature. Spotted a number of Explorer II 42mm, both Polar and Black.
I spotted this Explorer II Polar (40mm) and manage to 'shoot' it...
And finally this one.....
Even the Ladybug likes the watch....

Watch shopping in Okinawa Part 3
Finally made it to the DFS store across from where we are. The Galleria... very upscale place. Apologies for the poor quality shots as they do not allow photography.
Brand that you can find here in DFS? Lots... Zenith, Baume&Mercier, Hermes, Longines, TAGHeuer, Bell&Ross, Citizen, Blancpain, IWC, Emporio Armani and GP among others.
Across from the DFS, you find Naha Main Place. I manage to find two watch shops...
Don't know what the shop is called, can't read Japanese. They carry Citizen, Casio, Seiko, Ball, Breitling, Omega and a few other brands.
The other shop is called briO. They carry the usual shopping mall brands like Casio, Citizen, Police and Seiko among others.
A selection of their Casio on display.
With the typhoon getting closer, I am guessing these are about the best I can do with regards to watch shopping in Okinawa. Only the airport is left...
